Maze Escape Challenge

Navigate 12 procedurally generated mazes that grow bigger and trickier each level.

Guide the dot from the top-left to the flag through 12 mazes that grow from tiny to enormous. Use arrow keys / WASD — tap for one step or hold to keep moving. Drag anywhere on the board with a mouse or finger, or hold the on-screen arrow pad. The clock runs the whole way.

A maze game that grows with you

Maze puzzles are one of the oldest brain games in the world — and one of the best. This free online maze challenge starts you in a gentle 9×9 grid and ends, eleven levels later, in a 31×31 labyrinth with over 900 cells. Every maze is procedurally generated the moment you start it, which means infinite replayability: there is no walkthrough, no memorized solution, just you and the walls.

What maze solving exercises

  • Spatial navigation — building a mental map as you explore.
  • Planning — looking ahead several turns instead of wandering.
  • Working memory — remembering dead ends you've already tried.
  • Speed under pressure — the single running clock makes every wrong turn cost you.

Strategy corner

The classic wall-follower trick (keep one hand on the right wall) always works in these mazes, but it's rarely the fastest route. Skilled players scan ahead visually, spot corridors that trend toward the exit, and only fall back to wall-following when boxed in. Try both approaches and watch your split times.

Done escaping? Test the same spatial muscles in a different way with the spatial reasoning test, or slow things down with the memory test.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I control the maze?+

Tap arrow keys or WASD for one step, or hold them to move continuously. With a mouse or finger, press anywhere on the maze board and drag in the direction you want to move. On mobile, you can also hold the on-screen arrow pad.

How many levels are there?+

Twelve levels, starting at a 9×9 grid and growing to a 31×31 labyrinth. Every maze is generated fresh, so no two runs are the same.

Is every maze solvable?+

Yes — the generator (a classic recursive backtracker algorithm) guarantees exactly one path between any two points, so there's always a route to the flag.

What's a good total time?+

Finishing all 12 levels under 10 minutes is solid; under 6 minutes is genuinely fast. Your best total time is saved on your device.
